6/26/05 Op Have Fun SGT!

Operation "HAVE FUN"
by Kapowwe.com

We had an awesome time this past Sunday 6/26/05 at Survival Game Of Texas. A few of us look as if an outbreak of chicken pox have struck again due to all the BB's aimed our direction.... This was a day to remember. Here is how it unfolded:

Timeline Of Events:

Myself, fellow Kapowwe employees and friends came rolling up to The Survival Game Of Texas 9:30AM Sunday morning.

The Survival Games of Texas is actually a paintball field which has been in business for 20 years in the Houston area. This is a fairly large area with multiple fields. There is approximately 20-30 very thick wooded acres allocated to groups wanting to airsoft. This provides us a place to establish base camp and have uninterrupted skirmishes.

Already on the scene was a group of guys that looked as if they were ready for battle! Armed with Olympic Arms M4, Lugar gas gun, Marui MP5-J, and fully camouflaged even camo duct tape around the shoes. After introductions we headed inside to sign the release forms and pay our $15.00 field fees.

From speaking with the field employees, we learned that on Sundays the paintball players do not play until 1:00PM. We had full roam of all the fields for approximately 3 hours. Instead of establishing base camp in the back of the properly we unloaded all our gear quickly and began preparing for battle.

We brought a few watermelons to be used as "POW's", but they ended up being quickly executed.

A group from the Task Force Alphas arrived which was a good sign. You know the day is going to be fun and eventful when playing with/against these guys. They are a skillful group and have a great time on the battlefield. (insert link to Task Force Alphas HERE...when website is available. :)

Since we had all the fields available to us there was no question about it, we were on our way to "The Fortress". This is most everyones' favorite field. It is approximately 8 acres in size. There is a large fortress with multiple stories, catwalks, hiding places and right next to it a very tall multi level tower. The missions were simple, one team in the Fortress and the other attempts to take it over. Each soldier had 3 lives We played for a few hours on this field.

Here are a few clips showing the Fortress and the surrounding battlefield.

Please....No more autographs.

As usual I lost track of time being caught-up in the battle, but it must have lasted at least 1-2 hours. It came down to 1 player defending the castle. He was armed with 2 Tokyo Marui AEPs. It was a beating... I mean he held his ground admirably :) Some would have surrendered knowing the odds, but Travis fought to the very end. AND the final battle was caught on camera...

After reloading and chugging GALLONS of H20, we marched over to the "Western Town". This is another favorite field. It is designed as an "old west town" with small buildings on each side of the field. Again, the mission was simple, force on force take each other out. Each player had 3 lives.

This field is my personal favorite.... Myself and Oliver from the Task Force Alphas took cover in the center building and surrounded ourselves with bags of ammo and high-cap magazines. We were to provide suppressive fire as the rest of the team assaulted. We unloaded! What really made it fun was the aggressiveness of the other team, they were not content with staying in one spot waiting to be eventually picked off. They were moving all over the battlefield. It reminded me of that gopher game found at Mr. Gatties or Chucky Cheese where you pound the gopher with the mallet only to have 3 more pop-up in 3 different areas. I went through 4-6 high caps. Eventually they got the best of us an we were out of the action.

This skirmish ended with Jordan taking out the last players with a Tokyo Marui AEP. This final showdown was caught on camera.

By this time groups of paintball players arrived and began preparing to hit the fields. We quickly made our way to the next field appropriately named "Vietnam Village". This was a hill surrounded by a dry creek, sand bags, barrels, trees...etc. One force defended the hill and the other attempted to conquer. This was a fairly quick mission lasting less than 15-20 mins.

We packed up all our gear and moved to the back of the property, rested, ate the watermelons (i.e. the POWs), and loaded up on H20.

We had one more skirmish that day. Force on force and it started out as each player only having 3 lives, but ended up as "shoot them until they want to be out".

Here are a few moments from the battle

We had 14 people show up that day, and it is safe to say everyone had a great time. If you are an individual wanting to get into airsoft, or are already an established group looking to practice your tactics, you are all welcome to meet up with us at Survival Game of Texas. Just be prepared to have some fun.

Old Information:

When?
Meet us at the Survival Game of Texas this Sunday (6/26/05) 10:00AM to play some airsoft, and to meet other airsoft enthusiasts. This is not a sponsored event, this is an informal skirmish intended for you to meet others who enjoy airsoft, use your airsoft weaponry, and to have some fun.

If this is your first time to play or countless time, every skill level is welcomed. Since we are just organizing this gathering, we are setting the age limit to 15+; however, we expect to lower this requirement so more can enjoy airsoft in the upcoming weekends.

When you drive up to the field, it should be easy to spot the group. Look for the only group with airsoft guns, walk-up and say hello. If you arrive late and we have already moved from the front, go inside the paintball shop, tell them you are there to play airsoft, sign the release form, pay the field fee, and they will direct you to us.

Where?
Sunday 6/26/05 10:00AM until around 3:00-4:00PM (up to you)

Missions?
Coming soon.... To be announced.

Question?
How old do you have to be?

Answer:
For this weekend, we are stating 15+ years old. Since we are just starting this and need to play a few weekends first, we are stating the age should be 15+.  Once we get better organized our hope is to lower the age so more can come to play (don't worry Pat, we want you to come play too).

Question?
Is this a serious group of players?

Answer:
No, We are not drill sergeants and not establishing a ranking system. This is simply for you to come meet other players in the Houston area and to get outside and enjoy airsoft (i.e. get ready to spray LOTS of bb's).

Question?
I do not have a high-end airsoft gun yet, can I still compete?

Answer:
Anyone who comes to play will have a good time; however, you will have a difficult time competing with a lower-end gun. We suggest a high-end AEG or at least a spring action or gas airsoft gun. We will have 1-2  high-end AEGs to lone.

Question?
I have an upgraded rifle, can I use it.

Answer:
All rifles should be shooting below 400fps w/ .20 gram.

Question?
How much does this cost?

Answer:
Just the field fee of $15.00 + tax

Question?
What should I bring?

Answer:
    1. High-end airsoft gun, charged battery, bb's, gas....etc
    2. Full face mask / Goggles (needs to cover the eyes entirely)
    3. LOTS of water (it will be 90+ degrees and approximately 80%-90% humidity)
    4. Snacks... we may play until 3:00-4:00
    5. The terrain can be very dense. Bring woodland BDUs (i.e. camo pants and shirt)
