12/30/06 Op Fallen Fortress

Oh man.... so you sat at home with excuses.... well you missed a fantastic op! The drive to the field was a piece of cake, the weather was cool, there were plenty of gun rentals thanks to AirsoftGo, and the op was blast! Cannot say it enough times, Texas has one of the worlds best airsoft fields thanks to Tactical Paintball. If you haven't been to one of these ops, breakaway from the computer and get over here. We are so fortunate to have one of the world's best battlefields right here in our own state!  Birthday parties, church groups, corporate events... etc. Give John at Tactical Paintball a call, you will not be disappointed. 

I had a fantastic time slinging bb's all day! 115 players were on the battlefield as well as a handful of "civilians". We learned quickly that civilians potentially carried bombs as one blew up 3 of our guys... "stop, search, disarm... move along". Also, The field owner hid IED's on the battlefield. Nothing gets the adrenalin going like having the guy next to you trip one of these booby traps.... "KABOOM".

A different re-spawn method was used. When you went back to re-spawn, there was a timer going. Every 10 minutes everyone in re-spawn could leave. If you showed up and there was only 1 minute left, you waited 1 min. If the timer just went off, you had to wait 10 mins. This had a very good outcome. Instead of everyone breaking-up from their initial groups and going back into the battlefield alone, large groups of players would leave to take objectives. For example you would be guarding and objective, and 10 tangos would come storming in to take the base instead of just a few at a time.  

Can't wait for the next one. The same group who organized this event are also hosting Operation Apache Frost II in May 2007, be watching for this one. Also, the 12 hour scenario "Battle for Khe Sanh Operation Pegasus" in April 2007 was announced by Team Hidden Sword who will be hosting the event. Old news....

Expecting some new airsoft weaponry under the Christmas tree? A group of Houston based airsoft players will be hosting Operation Fallen Fortress Dec 30th 2006. This should be a good one! We plan on making the trip out west to sling some BB's and give away some prizes. Hope to see you on the battlefield!
